Biuret is $\mathrm{H}_{2} \mathrm{~N}-\mathrm{CO}-\mathrm{NH}-\mathrm{CO}-\mathrm{NH}_{2}$. This on reaction with $\mathrm{CuSO}_{4}$ solution gives violet colour. This test is answered by all proteins ie compounds containing $-\mathrm{CO}-\mathrm{NH}-$ group.\
