(c) : It is easier to obtain a metal from its oxide, as compared to its sulphide. Therefore, prior to reduction the metal sulphide must be converted to metal oxide. This process is known as roasting.\ Roasting converts sulphide ores to their oxides $$ 2 \mathrm{ZnS}_{(s)}+3 \mathrm{O}_{2(g)} \xrightarrow{\Delta} 2 \mathrm{ZnO}_{(s)}+2 \mathrm{SO}_{2(g)} $$
