(c) : Silver nitrite, $\mathrm{AgNO}_{2}$ (a salt of nitrous acid, $\mathrm{HNO}_{2}$ ) occurs in two tautomeric forms\ Thus $\mathrm{NO}_{2}{ }^{-}$ion from $\mathrm{AgNO}_{2}$ may exist either as $-\mathrm{O}-\mathrm{N}=\mathrm{O}$ (nitrite ion, ${ }^{-} \mathrm{NO}_{2}$ ) forming alkyl nitrites or in $-\mathrm{N}_{	riangle \mathrm{O}}=\mathrm{O}$ (nitro group) forming nitroalkanes.\
